Self-Hosting, Passcode Lock & Zero-Backend Privacy
BandRoom is engineered as a private, client-centric progressive web application. If your band prefers complete digital sovereignty, BandRoom can be self-hosted on your own local server, NAS, or intranet.
Zero-Backend Architecture
By default, the core BandRoom application requires zero server-side code:
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| CLIENT DEVICE (Browser / Native PWA) |
| • Local Client Engine & Secure On-Device Storage |
| • All song metadata, setlists, cuts, and audio blobs remain on local hardware. |

+----------------------------------+ +-------------------------------------+
| YOUR STORAGE (Google / Dropbox) | | LOCAL DISK / NETWORK NAS (SFTP) |
+----------------------------------+ +-------------------------------------+- No Remote Telemetry: BandRoom does not inject third-party advertising trackers, user analytics, or session recording scripts.
- No Third-Party Audio Ingestion: Your recordings are never uploaded to BandRoom servers for AI training, transcription, or processing.
Self-Hosting the Static Web Application
Deploy BandRoom on your own private web server (Nginx, Caddy, Apache, Docker, or Raspberry Pi):
1. Deploy the Static Bundle
Extract the production release archive to your web root:
bash
mkdir -p /var/www/bandroom/dist
unzip bandroom-web.zip -d /var/www/bandroom/dist2. Serve with Caddy or Nginx
Example Caddyfile for serving BandRoom over local HTTPS:
caddy
bandroom.local {
root * /var/www/bandroom/dist
file_server
try_files {path} /index.html
}Band Passcode Lock
When sharing a studio laptop or tablet mounted on a stage mic stand, you may want to prevent unauthorized users from viewing rehearsal notes or modifying setlists:
- Passcode Setup: Configure a passcode directly in Settings > Band Passcode Lock or configure it during your deployment build.
- Tactile Studio Lock Screen: When enabled, launching BandRoom presents a vintage cassette passcode console.
- Session Memory: Unlocking grants access for the active session without exposing your storage provider credentials.
