Storage Sources & BYO Cloud

BandRoom is engineered around a Bring Your Own Cloud (BYO Cloud) architecture. You do not need to re-upload gigabytes of high-resolution audio to a new, expensive third-party host. Connect your band's existing cloud or local storage directly to the app.

Supported Storage Providers

1. Connecting Google Drive Shared Folders

BandRoom streams directly from Google Drive without requiring complex permissions popups for band members:

  1. In Google Drive (web or mobile app), right-click (or tap ⋮) on your band's root music folder.
  2. Select Share ➔ Share.
  3. Under General access, change the setting to "Anyone with the link can view".
  4. Click "Copy link".
  5. In BandRoom, open Add Folder (+), select the Google Drive tab, paste the link, and tap "Connect & Sync Folder".

Subfolder Inheritance

Ensure that files inside the folder inherit the view permission. BandRoom scans subdirectories (e.g. 2026-08-15 - Rehearsal) recursively to assemble dated album sessions.

2. Connecting Dropbox Shared Folders

  1. In Dropbox, hover over your rehearsal folder and click Share ➔ Share with Dropbox.
  2. Set link permissions to "Anyone with this link can view".
  3. Copy the link (e.g. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/abc123xyz...).
  4. In BandRoom, paste the URL into the Dropbox tab of the Add Folder modal. BandRoom automatically rewrites the link to stream lossless audio without download redirection.

3. Connecting Local Disk Folders (Zero-Latency)

For maximum speed in rehearsal spaces with slow internet, stream directly off your local disk:

  1. In BandRoom (Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Desktop Native app), click Add Folder (+) and switch to the Local Folder tab.
  2. Click "Browse Local...".
  3. In your operating system file picker, select your music directory (e.g. ~/Music/Band Rehearsals/).
  4. Click "Allow" when prompted to grant read permissions.
  5. BandRoom indexes tracks instantly with zero upload time and zero network bandwidth usage.

Multi-Source Coexistence & Switching

BandRoom allows you to connect multiple storage sources simultaneously:

  • Active Source Filter: In Folders & Sessions, use the [All Folders ▾] dropdown to isolate sessions from a specific band, side project, or local hard drive.
  • Provider Status LEDs: Connected sources display status indicators in Settings > Storage Providers with active track counts and re-sync triggers.

Run your band from rehearsal room to center stage. Zero telemetry, pure client-side privacy.
