Quick Start Guide (5 Minutes)

Follow this 5-step walkthrough to configure your band workspace, import your rehearsal recordings, and prepare your first gig setlist in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Launch or Install BandRoom

Open BandRoom in your browser at app.bandroomapp.com or launch your native desktop / mobile app.

PWA Offline Install

For the best rehearsal experience, install BandRoom to your home screen or desktop dock via your browser's install icon. BandRoom operates 100% offline once installed.

Step 2: Connect Your Rehearsal Storage Folder

BandRoom does not require you to upload audio files to a proprietary server. Connect your existing storage:

  1. Click the + button in the top header or open Navigation Drawer (☰) ➔ Folders & Sessions.
  2. In the Add Music Folder modal, choose your provider:
    • Google Drive: Paste a shared Google Drive folder link set to "Anyone with the link can view".
    • Dropbox: Paste a public Dropbox shared folder link (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/...).
    • Local Folder: Click "Browse Local..." (Chrome/Edge/Desktop) to pick a folder on your hard drive via the File System Access API.
  3. Tap "Connect & Sync Folder". BandRoom instantly scans the directory, parsing subfolders into dated sessions (e.g. 2026-08-28 - Rehearsal) and indexing audio tracks.

Step 3: Add Songs to the Song Book

Create authoritative song entities in your master repertoire:

  1. Open the Navigation Drawer and tap Song Book.
  2. Click "+ Add Song" in the top action bar.
  3. Enter the song title (e.g. Midnight Drive), artist name, and initial status:
    • Set status to Rehearsing or Arranging.
    • Input the Musical Key (e.g. Em) and BPM Tempo (or use the live Tap Tempo button).
    • Set the instrument tuning (e.g. Drop D) and target performance duration (e.g. 04:15).
  4. Tap "Save Song".

Connect your actual practice recordings to the catalog song:

  1. Navigate to Folders & Sessions and open your latest rehearsal session.
  2. Find the recording of your song and tap the + Take to Song (Mic2) icon on the track row.
  3. Select your song from the dropdown. Rate the performance from 1 to 5 stars (★ ★ ★ ★ ★).
  4. Check the 👑 Benchmark as Golden Take toggle if this take represents the definitive arrangement reference for your bandmates.
  5. Tap "Link Take". The track now displays a prominent Golden Take badge (👑 Midnight Drive) across all views.

Step 5: Build Your First Gig Setlist & Test Stage Mode

Prepare your live show:

  1. Open the Navigation Drawer and select Gigs & Live Stage.
  2. Tap "+ New Gig", enter the venue name (e.g. The Velvet Lounge), date, stage time (21:30), and venue curfew (23:00). Choose the "1-Set Festival" starter preset.
  3. In the gig editor, tap "+ Add Song from Catalog" and select your songs. BandRoom snapshots the tempo, key, and duration, automatically subtotaling set runtime and calculating remaining curfew buffer.
  4. Tap "🎤 Stage Mode" to enter the pitch-black, high-contrast teleprompter view. Test switching between Full Setlist Scroll and 1-Song Prompter Mode.

Your band room is now fully operational!

Run your band from rehearsal room to center stage. Zero telemetry, pure client-side privacy.
