Managing Songs & Repertoire Lifecycle
The Master Song Book (Song Book) is your band's single source of musical truth. While rehearsal recordings are organized chronologically by practice date, the Song Book organizes your repertoire by song identity, preserving tunings, tempos, arrangements, and version history across months of sessions.
Accessing the Song Book
- Tap the hamburger menu icon (☰) in the top left header to open the Navigation Drawer.
- Select Song Book. The counter badge indicates your total active catalog songs.
- The catalog displays a responsive grid of song cards with status chips, Key, BPM, tuning, and linked take indicators.
5-Stage Repertoire Lifecycle
Every band song evolves through distinct stages. BandRoom provides 5 formal lifecycle statuses to track readiness:
| Status | Color Badge | Musical Context & Description |
|---|---|---|
| Draft / Idea | Purple (#9333ea) | Early songwriting jams, voice memos, riff sketches, and rough acoustic concepts. |
| Arranging | Blue (#2563eb) | Structuring verses, choruses, bridge transitions, vocal harmonies, and count-ins. |
| Rehearsing | Amber (#d97706) | Active band rehearsal rotation; tightening rhythm section lock, tempos, and solos. |
| Stage Ready | Emerald (#059669) | Polished, gig-ready repertoire prepped for live show setlists and tour rotation. |
| Retired | Slate (#71717a) | Archived songs taken out of active live rotation while preserving all takes and notes. |
Status Filter Chips
Use the 1-click filter bar at the top of the Song Book to filter your repertoire by lifecycle status. Each chip displays a live badge counter: [All Songs (24)] · [Stage Ready (12)] · [Rehearsing (6)] · [Arranging (4)] · [Draft / Idea (2)] · [Retired (0)].

Real-Time Live Tap Tempo Helper
Never argue about song tempos in rehearsal again. The live Tap Tempo tool calculates tempos instantly:
[ Tap Tempo ] ---> Δt1, Δt2, Δt3 ---> Rolling Average ---> 128 BPM- Inside the Song Detail Drawer, locate the Tap Tempo button next to the BPM input.
- Tap the button rhythmically in time with your drummer or count-in.
- BandRoom dynamically measures the high-precision millisecond delta between successive taps, computing a rolling average clamped between 30 BPM and 300 BPM.
- Auto-Reset Inactivity Timer: Pausing for more than 2.5 seconds automatically resets the tap buffer, allowing you to start a fresh measurement without manual clearing.
- Tap "Save Song" to commit the measured tempo to your master catalog.
