Rehearsal Takes & Golden Take Benchmark β
In traditional cloud storage, rehearsal takes of the same song are scattered across dozens of dated folders (2026-03-12, 2026-04-18, 2026-05-02). BandRoomβs Take Regroupment Engine gathers all takes of a song across past and present sessions into a single comparative timeline.

There are two primary ways to associate audio takes with catalog songs:
1. From Any Session Tracklist ("+ Take to Song") β
- In Folders & Sessions, open any rehearsal session.
- Click the
+ Take to Song(Mic2) button on any track row. - In the modal, select an existing Song Book title or type a new title to create a song on the fly.
- Assign a 1 to 5 Star Rating (

- 2 Stars (β β βββ): Complete take with tempo dragging or vocal pitch issues.
- 3 Stars (β β β ββ): Solid rehearsal performance; good for internal review.
- 4 Stars (β β β β β): Tight, confident take with great groove and dynamic balance.
- 5 Stars (β β β β β ): Exceptional execution; potential demo release or gold-standard reference.
You can adjust ratings directly inside the take comparison list in the Song Detail Drawer.
Crowning the π Golden Take β
The Golden Take is the single definitive benchmark recording of a song. It represents the authoritative version that all bandmates must learn before gig day.
Golden Take Rules & Behavior β
- Strictly One Active Golden Take: Each song maintains at most one active Golden Take. Assigning the Golden Take crown (
π) to a new take automatically unsets the crown from any previous take. - Universal Visual Badging: The Golden Take displays an illuminated gold crown (
π) on its track row in session lists, favorites, and queue. - One-Tap Repertoire Playback: Tapping
π Play Golden Takeon any song card immediately enqueues and plays the benchmark take in the player.
Golden Takes Smart Playlist (T-GOLD) β
BandRoom automatically maintains an always-synchronized Golden Takes virtual playlist:
- Open the Navigation Drawer and select Playlists & Mixtapes.
- Tap the Golden Takes (
π) tab next to Favorites. - The view lists the benchmark Golden Take of every song in your Song Book catalog with its status, tempo, key, and rehearsal date.
- Tap "Play All" or "Shuffle" to stream your band's best takes in continuous high-fidelity playback.
- In the Song Book header, click the quick-action "Play Golden Takes" button to start playback without leaving the catalog.
Disconnected Folder & Offline Snapshot Resilience β
If a cloud folder is temporarily disconnected, renamed, or offline:
- The take remains visible in the Song Book take comparison list.
- BandRoom displays cached snapshot metadata: track name, rehearsal session title, duration, star rating, and golden take status.
- A subtle "Offline" indicator alerts the user without breaking the master song record or corrupting setlists.
